Good Home: finding Tonis, and deciding where Heile lives

A quest with no marker until you are nearly on top of it, a little girl living with fairies, and an ending where her brother dies because you said the wrong thing.

Good Home is the first quest of the Sanzhani line, and Polygon says it is not marked, so you are unlikely to stumble on it early. In the Svartrau Outskirts, near the Sandy Gorge Shrine, there is a glowing boulder ringed with red mushrooms; Polygon notes the quest marker only appears once you get close, and the rings lead on to a burrow. The girl inside, Heile, lives with the Sanzhani and wants her brother Tonis found. Everything after that is a search, a conversation, and a choice about where she should grow up. Polygon says it becomes available after the prologue, and Game8 puts the whole thing at 2 to 8 time segments.

Polygon and Game Rant both say to give Tonis the drink if you have one; the Arekkz Gaming walkthrough recommends helping him instead, which in that video means chopping down a tree. When he agrees to come, “Sure thing. Follow me.” takes you straight to the scene at the burrow, while “I’ll meet you there.” means walking back yourself.

Three ways it can end

Heile stays with the Sanzhani

Tonis leaves, and the Sanzhani let him visit her — once every new moon in Polygon, once per moon in Game Rant. Game Rant adds that she cannot stay with them forever.

What it takes

The search of Oghasti — Polygon says that alone is enough, Game Rant says the Wooden Palace too. Polygon's lines: “Tonis, Heile is happy here,” “You can't provide for her,” and “She's safe here.”

Heile leaves with Tonis

She goes to live with him at the woodcutters' camp, and Tonis says he means to marry her off — in a year or two per Polygon, in a few years per Game Rant. Polygon adds that when you check in on them there, you can give Tonis 100 denarii.

What it takes

Three shiny teeth for the Sanzhani, as payment for her keep. You agree to fetch them in the conversation and she leaves once they are delivered.

Tonis dies

He storms off threatening to come back with men to free his sister, and the Sanzhani kill him.

What it takes

Nothing but the wrong answers. Polygon: anything other than the lines for the first two endings.

Polygon and Game Rant map the lines differently

The two written walkthroughs agree on the three endings but not on every line that leads to them. Polygon has “The girl should live among her own kind” followed by “And what future awaits her here?” as the route to Heile leaving with Tonis. Game Rant lists the first of those under Heile staying, puts the second next to “No. I refuse.” as a way to get Tonis killed, and gives “I can do that, yes.” as the line for Heile leaving. They also differ on what unlocks the staying ending: Polygon says Oghasti alone is enough, Game Rant says to search both Oghasti and the Wooden Palace. Searching both costs one stop more and satisfies either reading.

Shiny teeth, and the other way to lose Tonis

The teeth for the leaving ending are a grind. Polygon says they drop from any kind of human — soldiers, bandits, civilians — but rarely, so it may take about three dozen before you have three. Game Rant says any enemy can drop them and they turn up in the world too, and points to one in the haystack of the pig pen by Andrei’s house in Svartrau City.

Tonis is mortal, and Polygon notes you can simply kill him when you find him. You then go back and either tell Heile he is dead or admit you did it, one segment either way. She is upset; the Sanzhani are pleased, and Polygon says you still get the quest’s reward.

What finishing it opens

Polygon names the reward as Letters to Lunka: the chance to exchange messages with Coen's sister in Greifberg Castle. Polygon says that after speaking with the Sanzhani Tsarina, the rest of the Sanzhani quests appear on the map as small white question marks; PC Gamer describes them appearing one at a time as you send letters. One of them, Come Hither, is where Eurogamer and Polygon send you for free Silk Threads for the Arbiter armour in A Bulwark Against Darkness. PC Gamer, GameSpot and the r/Blood_of_Dawnwalker route post all say finishing the whole Sanzhani chain gives back a full day — sixteen segments — which matters on a thirty-day plan. GameSpot lists the Fear of the Wilds amulet as coming from the Good Home and Letters to Lunka chain, and the Tsarina you meet here is one of the three people who will take Bakir's amethyst ring in The Ring.
