Quest walkthrough

Home Sweet Home

A hidden quest that drops you back into the first minutes of the game and then loops. It costs four segments to enter, has a way out, and has a reason not to take it.

Step by step

  1. Reach the top of Aurelia's Tower

The tower is in the south-west corner of The Silts. Climbing it means fighting through a handful of enemies and Svetlana, the Dark Prodigy — a witch boss who throws witchcraft spells. At the top you can look through the door and see a ritual in progress.

  2. Open the door — this is where the cost lands

Opening the door starts the quest and charges four time segments. You wake up at the very beginning of the game, in Coen's family home in Laslea Glen, with your father asking you to chop wood.

  3. Talk to your family

Chop the wood or don't; talk or don't. Nothing here changes anything. The winged creature comes through the roof and takes your family regardless.

  4. Rescue your family

Follow the path to Esme — a copy of her — and clear the enemies around her; any dialogue choice sends her to the church. Do the same for your siblings. Then find your father, where the Keeper of Nightmares crashes down. Parry it while it is airborne to force it to the ground. Afterwards tell Pieter there is no time for this and go to the church. Your family asks why he is not with you; you will not know what they mean yet. Tell them to pull themselves together, watch the gargoyle cutscene, and you are back at the house again.

  5. Escape the loop — or don't

Talking to Esme now replays the abduction and the loop begins. To break it, inspect the well in the area where your siblings were, go through the dialogue, and choose "Alin". That gets you out and the quest continues. Staying in the loop deliberately is how you reach the Together Forever ending — see the note on the loop count below.

  6. Help the priest recall the sermon

From the well, shadowstep up the wall, into the cave, across the platforms and through the portal. In the ruined church the priest keeps stumbling. Each time he stops, interact in this order: Alin (the small coffin on the table), then Esme (beside it), then Coen (on the southern pew).

  7. Investigate the meadow

Follow the boy through the door and the portal, then the torch-lit path. Use focus mode on the toy, the swing and the log. Keep following the torches, claw-ride down the cliff, and the cutscene with Alin explains what happened to him. The dialogue choices here all lead to the same place.

How many loops it takes

You repeat the dream three more times, four more with the fifth pass ending it, or five before Together Forever triggers. What you do is the same either way: ignore the well, keep talking to Esme, and it comes within a few repeats.

Finishing the quest also counts toward a boyar: it reportedly completes one of Xanthe’s court activities, so it raises her anger on the way to her own quest. The Xanthe page lists the other activities and what comes after.

The start, the cost and the loop

Where does Home Sweet Home start?
At the top of Aurelia's Tower in the south-west of The Silts, also called Aurelius's Tower or Ambrosius Tower; it is the same place. Opening the door at the top begins the quest.
How many time segments does Home Sweet Home cost?
Four, charged when you open the door at the top of the tower.
How do you escape the loop?
Inspect the well in the siblings' area and choose "Alin" in the dialogue. Ignoring the well keeps you in the loop.
How many loops for the Together Forever ending?
Three more repeats, four more (with the ending triggering on the fifth pass), or five. Ignore the well and keep talking to Esme; either way it triggers within a handful of repeats.
