What changed, and when
Game patches and guide updates, newest first.
The big patch planned for early October (site)
The game's director has described the first big patch, due around the start of October: a new, easier Story preset (today's Story stays under another name, so there will be five), lock-on set to stop jumping to another enemy when you stun one, running away from fights without snagging on scenery, animals that stop pinning you when you rush past in wolf form or at a witch's sprint, and more performance work. Enemy health is not changing. The known issues page now lists what the patch is set to change, the difficulty page and FAQ mention the fifth preset, and the New Game Plus page adds that the studio is exploring the mode, which was not among the changes named for this patch.
New Game Plus confirmed, and pages on mods, age rating, travel and the Witcher (site)
New Game Plus: the game's director has said in an interview after launch that it is planned, with no date and no details, so the New Game Plus page, the FAQ, the difficulty and endings pages no longer say there is none or that the studio has not said. Mods: a new page on the mods players install first, led by the ones that stretch the 30-day clock, with the three ways a mod installs and what to do when nothing happens, or the game crashes, or a patch breaks it. Age rating: ESRB M and PEGI 18, with what each rating board lists and the ratings compared by country. Getting around: there is no horse or mount, and how shrine fast travel, the two haste perks and wolf form work. Dawnwalker vs The Witcher 3: who made it, and what critics say is alike and different. Corrected: the budget page's audience-overlap wording, the day and night traversal row, and the tower costs on the regions page.

The Ring, A Mother's Plea, and skills settled (site)
Two new walkthroughs. The Ring: where Bakir's amethyst ring is, what giving it to Farkas leads to, and the three people who will take it instead. A Mother's Plea: finding Ocha in Svartrau, the day and night ways into Andrei's hideout, the memento that works, and the talk that decides her future. The skills page is now settled: Swordmastery abilities do need manuals, each tree's ultimate row allows one perk, with the Swordmastery and Witchcraft rows unlocking after 35 points spent in the tree and Vampirism's at Corruption 15, and there is no respec in the game (PC mods add one). The difficulty page now reflects players changing difficulty mid-run. The platforms page adds GeForce NOW, which Rebel Wolves announced for launch day. Corrected: the missables page no longer calls A Mother's Plea hidden and time-sensitive. Screenshots now illustrate the Good Home, Night of Horrors, Ring and Mother's Plea pages.
Good Home, The Night of Horrors, and platforms (site)
Three new pages. Good Home: where the unmarked Sanzhani quest starts, the costed search for Tonis, the three endings and the dialogue that leads to each. The Night of Horrors: Lacra's night in the swamp stop by stop, The Vrakhir and the Relic of St. Tobias on the way, and what eating or refusing the mandrake leads to. Platforms and editions: not on PS4, Xbox One, Switch or in the Game Pass library, rated Unsupported on Steam Deck, and what each of the four editions contains. Corrected: the Lacra page said letting The Night of Horrors run into morning loses her whole line — it fails that quest and possibly the romance; the relics page's details on the St. Tobias relic were corrected.
Multiplayer and genre, plus links across the guides (site)
One new page: whether the game has multiplayer, co-op or split-screen (single-player on Steam and Xbox, with split-screen only through an unofficial PC mod), why its combat is compared to Kingdom Come rather than Dark Souls, and how its open world is built. Across the site, the step lists, tables and question answers now link to the guide for many of the characters, relics and systems they mention, and section headings that were the same on many pages now say what each section covers.
Crake, and the bosses (site)
Two new pages. Crake: the Manumits' leader, whose real name is Marat — his questline in order, the ordering mistake that ends the romance, and the three places he can die, one of them in the final throne room. Bosses: the three times you meet Brencis, what the boyars you spared, the time of day and the ally you brought each change about the last fight, and the main bosses and minibosses across the game. The romance page's Crake card now lists his quests in the order they unlock.
Anca, and the legendary gear (site)
Two new pages. Anca: the herbalist who teaches Coen witchcraft gets her own page — her quests in order, the dialogue across three of them that wins her, what the Font of Life does for her, and the warning that matters most, which is that talking to her as a hungry vampire kills her and closes her whole line. Best gear: the legendary armour and weapons worth chasing, what each actually gives you, the chests that close behind a conversation, and the pieces with two possible locations.
Character creation, map size, and the budget page (site)
A new page for the question people actually ask before buying: there is no character creator and no gender choice — you play Coen — plus what you do get to decide, and why the silver in his lungs left him a Dawnwalker instead of a vampire. The region page now answers how big the valley is, with a rough size and the studio's own line that it isn't that big. The development budget page gained what has come out since launch: an estimate of Steam copies and why it does not divide into a platform split, the game's Steam chart placings, how quickly NetEase's term sheet arrived, and what the studio says the money is for — the next two games.
Lacra, and the region map (site)
Two new pages. Lacra: her six quests in order with what starts each, the ordering trap that ends the romance if you take Midnight Reckoning before The Night of Horrors, the legendary chest beside Isbrand, and four details about her with two possible answers. Regions: every region of the valley with the boyar who holds it, Svartrau's districts, and how shrines, towers and the hourglass warning work. The quest table's region labels were also normalised where the same place had two spellings.
Albertus's answers, and Compel Soul (site)
Two new pages for things the site only mentioned in passing. Abelard the Sorrowful: the five charcoal lines in order, where Albertus's house in the Middens may be, the wall-hop shortcut, and what the finished chapter actually says — plus the reason the name has no biography attached to it. Compel Soul: what the ability is, why it is daytime and human-form only, the catalyst each named corpse wants, and the cooldown reduction that stacks up as you use it. The quest, day-night and convent pages now point at both.
Infamy levels, and the relics (site)
Two new pages. Infamy: what the meter is and where the game shows it, the nine levels with the edict each one brings, the tier names, the cheapest ways to raise it, and every quest, merchant and romance gated behind level 4 — plus the unresolved arithmetic between a nine-level ceiling and three boyar kills. Relics of a saint: the four named relics, where each one is, and which two are amulets you would rather keep than feed to the Arbiter ritual. Abelard the Sorrowful turns out to be the first line you write in charcoal for Albertus, not a boss or an item, and the relic pages now say so.
Withering Away: the herb recipe (site)
A new page for the prologue quest where you brew medicine for Coen's mother: the water and spoonful choices with the correct one marked, the dialogue line that gets her to drink it, the steps and time costs before the pot, and what a wrong brew may or may not do. The prologue, prologue planner, missables and FAQ now say a wrong brew may cost Esme her life, or may not; the planner's time cost for the quest now covers the full range; the romance page now flags the Latin lesson for anyone romancing Anca.
Xanthe, and Denuvo (site)
Two new pages. Xanthe: the activities that unlock The Cycle of Love, the early cathedral route and what it locks out, her attacks and how to handle them, and what killing, drinking her blood or sparing her changes in the castle assault. Denuvo: what the developers said, what DRM each store version carries, and which versions play offline. Corrections: the PC version is on GOG and the Microsoft Store as well as Steam; the claim that any boyar left alive becomes a castle boss was true for Ambrus and Bakir but not Xanthe; the note that you cannot drink a boyar's blood in the castle now carries the daytime condition; Home Sweet Home now says it counts as one of Xanthe's court activities.
Skill trees and best PC settings (site)
Two new pages. Skill trees: the three trees and when each works, what learning a skill costs in points and time, how manuals and Corruption gate abilities, ultimate perks, why a spent point should be treated as spent, and three best-skills lists compared. Best PC settings: what the graphics menu has and lacks, setting-by-setting recommendations, the upscaler and frame generation choice, and what players do about HDR, field of view, ultrawide cutscenes and heavy sharpening. Corrections: learning a skill costs skill points, not XP, and most perks take one to three segments rather than always one; there is no mount, so riding is gone from the lists of free actions; Valve rates the game Unsupported on Steam Deck; the no-skill-point claim for boyar blood is now hedged, with Scarlet Shield as a possible exception.
New Game Plus, difficulty settings, and known issues (site)
Three new pages. New Game Plus: there was none at release, claims otherwise came from before release, and how to replay without it, including a PC mod and the state of DLC. Difficulty settings: the four presets, why Duelist gives enemies less health, the separate assists, and what the Duelist achievement rules out. Known issues: the developer's workarounds for stutter, shader crashes and controller sprinting, the full hotfix notes, and which quest bugs are fixed or still reported. Corrections on existing pages: the hotfix summaries credited 1.0.2 with quest-blocker fixes that came in 1.0.4, and two quest-table patch notes added detail the official notes do not contain; A Bulwark Against Darkness now says either route to the letter works; the Arbiter's Blade unlock rate on Forge It Anew was not displaying; the endings page no longer states a save-slot count, and now gives both answers on whether the game continues after an ending.
What the game cost to make (site)
A new page for the question of the development budget. There is no public figure from the studio, its publisher or NetEase; the page sets out who paid, how the team grew from around 20 to around 160, and what the million-copies figure can and cannot tell you. Also corrected: the one-million-copies entry below had called the Steam post the first first-party confirmation, but the studio posted the number on September 5.
A Monk and a Saint, and the silver trader (site)
Two new pages. A Monk and a Saint lays the day and night routes into Svartrau Cathedral side by side with the time each step costs, lines up every description of which grave hides the crypt, and warns that starting Night Terrors can lock out A Dubious Gift. The silver trader page covers where he is, the bear quest Into the Den, and the one open question: whether Notorious Infamy alone is enough to make him deal. Also: quest results in site search now open a quest's own page when it has one, and six pages that search could not find are in it.
Ads added (site)
The site now carries display ads from Adsterra on its guide and tool pages: a banner between sections, a sponsored block near the bottom of reading pages, a margin banner on wide screens where the page leaves room, a small docked banner on phones, and a pop-under on first click. The privacy policy, terms, contact, about, sources and this changelog stay ad-free. Nothing in the data is paid for — no cost, ranking or recommendation changed — and the privacy policy now names the network and says what it receives.
Hotfix 1.0.5 (game) — shader compilation
A one-line patch on Steam: improvements to the shader compilation pipeline, which the developer says can fix stuttering issues for some users. No quest or balance changes are listed, so nothing on the quest pages changed because of it.
Font of Life, and Echoes of Silenced Bells (site)
Two more pages on Anca's questline. The Font of Life page lays out all three choices at the end of Stronger Than Achilles with the exact dialogue lines, with both verdicts on the Ancient Greaves and both costs for the quest. Echoes of Silenced Bells gets both routes into the library, the bell-signal table, Leonica, and the notes choice, with a video of the relic route at the top. The romance page's Anca chain was corrected in the same change: Echoes comes first, not last, and Stronger Than Achilles was missing.
The boyars, and A Bulwark Against Darkness (site)
Two new pages. The boyars page covers the Ambrus duel and the full Bakir maze route, and what each boyar's blood grants; Xanthe's fight is left for its own page. A Bulwark Against Darkness is the Arbiter armor quest: the Notorious trigger, the four components, the three-segment ritual and the set's bonuses. Its three-segment ritual is now a row in the quest table, so the table's total moved by three segments. Also new since launch: the romance page, HowLongToBeat hours, Home Sweet Home, Forge It Anew and an achievement tracker.
Hotfix 1.0.4 (game) — quest blockers fixed
Rebel Wolves shipped 1.0.4 on Steam (1.005 on consoles). The headline is stability, but the part that matters for a guide is the quest list: it fixes Coen getting stuck in a cave during Deep Down, an infinite loading screen when progressing On the Run, a premature end to one of the Hive and Seek solutions, a blocker in The Heart Wants What It Wants, a soft-lock after following Sara, and Murohn failing to spawn. Investigating the rag in Smoke and Ashes is now optional, and A Lone Wolf's Hunt shows its difficulty correctly. Also fixed: a bug that stopped the game saving, a tutorial that locked up if Voracious Bite was used too fast, blocking being disabled, and FPS drops from controllers on outdated GameInput. If you were stuck on any of those quests, update before assuming you did something wrong.
One million copies (game)
Rebel Wolves repeated the milestone in a Steam announcement. It had first posted it on the game's official social account on September 5, saying the game had passed a million copies in its first three days.
Site launched
First version, built six days after release. Quest time costs and day/night locks for 45 side quests, all 46 Steam achievements with their real global unlock rates, the eight ending outcomes, and two planners. Where a figure has two or more answers, all are given.
Hotfix 1.0.3 (game)
Rebel Wolves added DualSense support on Steam. This followed Hotfix 1.0.2, which let Coen talk to Farkas after killing the NPCs around him, stopped Lunka getting lost while leading Coen through the tutorial, and adjusted controller sprint input on PC. The 1.0.2 notes listed stuttering in windowed mode and shader-compilation crashes as known issues, with workarounds.
The Blood of Dawnwalker released
Out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No edition had early access. The PC build unlocked at 18:00 ET on September 2, which is why Steam's store page shows that date. The game passed a million copies sold in its first three days.
