The Ring: Farkas's heirloom, and whether to hand it over
The jester who got you to Bakir says the amethyst ring can cure his brother. Polygon went back to his house to see what it really did.
Farkas is Bakir's jester, and the man who helps you reach him in The Lunar Game. What he wants in return is a family heirloom Bakir took: an amethyst ring, which GameSpot's guide calls the Ring with the Purple Eye. Polygon's reason for his desperation is his younger brother Dusan, left badly hurt by Bakir, who once promised Farkas the ring could cure him. GameSpot adds that the ring is carved with demonic runes and Farkas knows nothing about arcane rituals.
Finding it in Bakir’s treasury
Rock Paper Shotgun describes Farkas as your ticket into Bakir’s treasury once you fight Bakir. Polygon points to a small box on the shelf in its northwest corner, and Game Rant notes the places the ring might be glow yellow in Focus Mode. Polygon also says you are pulled into a conversation with Farkas the moment you step outside, so there is no leaving with the ring quietly — if you have not found it yet, its advice is to answer “I’m still looking.” Pretending you did not find it does not work: Polygon says Farkas will not believe you.

Three answers for Farkas
| Your answer | Straight away | Later |
|---|---|---|
| Give Farkas the ring | He is grateful and, per Polygon, the quest completes there. | Polygon: visit his house in Parlita and you find the ring possessed him and he murdered his brother Dusan. Game Rant and GameSpot say you only learn his fate at the end of the game. |
| Keep it | Farkas is angry. GameSpot has Coen tell him Bakir lied — whatever the ring held was meant to be lethal. | Polygon: visit Parlita later and the brothers are doing relatively well, and Farkas is happy to see you. Rock Paper Shotgun says he repays you, though not with anything worth much. |
| Kill him | Polygon says The Ring carries on, so you can still take the ring to someone who understands it. | You can no longer enter his house or meet his brother, per Polygon. |
Polygon gives the Parlita detail for the handover road: pick up the journal, the jester’s hat and the bloodied knife in the house with Focus Mode, then use them to compel the corpse in the bedroom — and only in daytime. Polygon also warns you can kill him by accident at night if your blood is too low. And if you tell him to look for the ring himself before you have found it, Polygon says The Ring fails at once.
Who will take the ring off your hands
Polygon and GameSpot both say handing it to any of these costs two time segments. Game Rant lists only Anca and the Matriarch.
Anca
Quick Fighter's Ring. Polygon: more human health and health restoration, shorter Swordmastery cooldowns. GameSpot says she destroys the amethyst ring.
You need
Anca alive. Polygon places her at the Crossroads Inn east of Svartrau City.
The Uriashi Elder
Vrakhir's Endurance, an epic amulet. Polygon: better blood-drinking restoration and less magical and physical damage.
You need
Song of the Mountain completed, per Polygon. She is in Uriash Village, in the mountains west of Svartrau City.
The Sanzhani Tsarina
Also Vrakhir's Endurance — GameSpot calls that a surprise.
You need
Good Home completed, per Polygon, who says the rest of the Sanzhani quests are not needed. She is in the Yawning Burrow in the Svartrau Outskirts.
The prerequisites have their own pages: Anca, and Good Home for the Tsarina. The Elder is the Uriash Matriarch whose daughter you look for in A Mother's Plea. Polygon's view is that giving the ring away does not seem to have any further consequences.
When it starts, and a bug fixed early
The guides describe the start differently. Polygon says The Ring begins automatically once Bakir is defeated; GameSpot and Game Rant say refusing Farkas is what sets it off. Game Rant also says you must ask Bakir about the ring as your reward, and that accepting money and leaving after asking about it locks you out — but in Dan Allen Gaming’s video of the feast route, Bakir refuses to hand over the heirloom, so treat that route as unreliable for the ring. Separately, Hotfix 1.0.2 fixed Farkas refusing to talk: its note reads “Coen can talk to Farkas now even after killing all NPCs around him.”
